Default Horrible lag since 2 days

Since 2 days I've got horrible lags all the time. When I use skills I have to wait 5 seconds before they actually go off.. Everything was fine before, my ping used to be around 100-200 but now it's 700-7000.. How can I test what's the problem?

Someone suggested me to do a traceroute, I did and got quite a few time-outs..

Thanks.

I never get lag. Please answer this following question(s):

1. Are you running the game on a dial-up connection?

If you answer yes, then upgrade to High Speed Internet. It will run MUCH better.

If you have a high speed connection, call your ISP about this issue.

Leet Tankus: Less trolling

On-topic: Everyone has been getting a shit storm of lag lately. My whole guild and some non-guild friends have been experiencing this for the last 2 weeks.

Ok, I guess no more Guild Wars for me then.. Just thought it was odd because I've never had big lag issues the 3,5 years before..

Every 10 minutes I get booted off my Friend's list/Guild list as if I've been DC, and I have to reconnect to it. I think it's Anet.

There had been some problems between germany and LA, giving the Euro players much grief. I thought it was fixed but ended up DC'ing and lagging a lot yesterday. Not funny when you are vanqing, but I can live with some lag from time to time.

Used to be lagfest when I had to use wireless, but the last year I went to another provider and dropped the wireless, and I've been able to play lagfree 99% of the time. So I won't complain ^^

The weird thing is.. I just used my 3G connection on my phone to play Guild Wars, and the lag seems to be gone.

I see you live in Middelburg, I live near Middelburg.. What provider do you have now? I went to a friend yesterday with the same provider and he had huge lags too.

I've been having extreme lag for sonce a few days ago. Connecting from The Netherlands, ZeelandNet to Euro districts. Pings from 300 to 1000+ and sometimes great pauses after skill activation. PvP is deadly now.

Hm, Middelburg?, ZeelandNet? Do I start to see a link here? Is our ISP giving us crap?

I also have been getting lag but it only lasts for like 5 minutes and happens like twice a day.

This is almost always something you need to contact your ISP about. They have the resources to trace your connections better than anyone else, and can tell you where the problem is occurring.

Opening a support ticket with ArenaNet is also something I'd recommend, though they will more than likely tell you to contact your ISP.

Great I just got a nasty spike that lasted like 15 seconds and I was doing sanctum cay while defending the vizier and he died because I lagged I can not believe that i was at the end of this mission and this happened. This just makes me not want to play the game. I know this a problem with guild wars because when it happened others also lagged

Delta, never causes problems (unless they want more money )
Previously (in Belgium) I had Telenet. Lot's of package loss there (checked it with someone at ANet), that and the fact that I had wireless made it a lagfest for me.

Happy that's over now ^^
